Fundación AES Panamá, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment (MiAMBIENTE) and other strategic allies, took part in an environmental volunteer initiative focused on reforesting one hectare in the community of Gatuncillo, in the province of Colón.

The activity took place in the surrounding areas of the Sin Nombre stream, located within the Gatuncillo River sub-basin, with the aim of contributing to watershed restoration and strengthening local ecosystems.

Over the course of four hours, 30 volunteers from the Foundation joined representatives from MiAMBIENTE, members of the Gatuncillo Bilingual School community, and other partners to plant 1,400 native seedlings, including fruit-bearing, ornamental, and timber species. This effort seeks to improve vegetation cover, protect water sources, and generate long-term environmental benefits for the school and neighboring communities.

“Sustainability is an essential part of how we do business. This volunteer initiative reinforces our commitment to ecosystem restoration and the well-being of the communities where we operate,” said Stephanie Lezcano, Executive Director of Fundación AES Panamá.

As an integral part of the day, specialists from the Ministry of Environment led environmental awareness and education sessions, promoting best practices for the care of natural resources and strengthening participants’ environmental consciousness.

Through this active participation, Fundación AES Panamá reaffirms its commitment to protecting natural resources and promoting the country’s sustainable development, contributing to stronger ecosystems and the well-being of communities.
