In honor of AES Global Safety Day -- with its 2025 theme "Protecting What Matters Most" -- AES Panamá received the company's prestigious Golden Hard Hat award. This accolade recognizes top-tier industrial safety practices across the corporation.

The award acknowledges AES Panamá's achievement of over 9.5 million hours worked without incidents during three major projects: the construction of the Generadora Gatún power plant, the Transmission Line, and the expansion of the natural gas-fired generation plant terminal in Colón.

Ricardo Falú, COO of The AES Corporation, presented the award, commended the AES Panamá team for their exemplary commitment to the safety culture that defines the organization globally.

"This achievement reflects a profound sense of responsibility and teamwork. Every employee has contributed to building a safe and sustainable environment, meeting the highest operational standards," Falú said.

To reach this milestone, AES Panamá implemented awareness campaigns and processes that elevated standards in critical procedures such as lockout / tagout, crane operations, scaffolding, control of work permits in construction and operation interaction areas, and contractor safety. The company also emphasizes the importance of its four key safety indicators:

  • disabling incidents,
  • significant and potential incidents without injuries,
  • safety walks, and
  • attendance at monthly safety, health, and environment meetings.

Miguel Bolinaga, President of AES Panamá, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and pride in his team: "I am deeply proud of every person who made this possible. They are not only looking out for their own lives but also those of their colleagues, and that speaks to a strong and conscious safety culture."

This achievement reinforces AES Panamá's commitment to safety as a fundamental value, highlighting the importance of creating work environments where prevention and well-being are always the priority.
