AES Panama Foundation joins the “Agua en tu Aula” initiative with a pilot project at Gatún Bilingual School
November 20, 2025
The AES Panama Foundation announced its participation as a strategic private sector partner in the “Agua en tu Aula” or “Water in Your Classroom” initiative, a program led by the United States Embassy in Panama that seeks to guarantee access to drinking water in schools across the country. This contribution is part of its action pillar focused on “Access to safe, efficient, and affordable energy and basic services,” aimed at promoting solutions that improve the well-being and development of communities.
As part of this commitment, the foundation completed the implementation of a potable water system at Gatuncillo Bilingual School, in collaboration with United Way Panama and Panama Rainwater, which was responsible for the technical execution of the project. The foundation’s social investment covered labor costs, while the U.S. Embassy provided the materials required for installation.
“From the AES Panama Foundation, we work to promote projects that address essential community needs. Access to drinking water is fundamental for the health and educational development of our children,” said Miguel Bolinaga, CEO of AES Panama and Chairman of its Board of Directors. “This initiative reflects our commitment to contributing to the well-being of present and future generations.”
The intervention in Gatuncillo will directly benefit more than 500 students, improving their health conditions, reducing school absenteeism, and creating a safer and more conducive learning environment. The project represents a strategic social investment aligned with the country’s sustainable development goals and the organization’s vision of fostering more resilient and sustainable communities.
Longterm commitment
The AES Panama Foundation also confirmed its intention to continue supporting the “Agua en tu Aula” initiative, with plans to implement a new project in another school during 2026. This announcement reaffirms its long-term vision and a sustainable approach focused on strengthening the country’s educational development.
“Collaboration between the private sector, civil society, and public institutions is key to addressing the challenges faced by our educational communities,” added Bolinaga. “We are proud to be part of an alliance that shows that, when we work together, we can generate meaningful changes in the lives of Panamanian students.”
This initiative adds to more than 26 years of ongoing work by AES Panama and its social arm in strengthening the country’s sustainable development, during which the company has invested more than USD $3.488 billion in energy solutions and community programs that have benefited thousands of Panamanians.
