AES Panama and InterEnergy complete restoration project at Ana Pérez de Isaza School

AES Panama, through its Foundation and UEP Penonomé II, S.A. (a company of the Interenergy Group and operator of the Laudato Sí Wind Farm), wrapped up this Thursday its improvement project at the CEBC Ana Pérez de Isaza School with a meaningful corporate volunteer day, where employees from both organizations joined forces to paint and beautify the educational facilities. 

This initiative, formalized through a cooperation agreement, represents a joint investment of USD $22,344.75, with each organization contributing 50% of the total amount, demonstrating a shared commitment to the educational development of the El Coco community in the province of Coclé. 

Comprehensive transformation for student well-being 

The project included substantial improvements to the school’s infrastructure, including: 

  • Full renovation of sanitary facilities: Supply and installation of new urinals, replacement of doors, toilets, and sinks, along with the installation of expandable windows for improved ventilation. 

  • Adaptation of the classroom for children with special needs: Painting, installation of a shower, replacement of lighting fixtures, and tile cleaning. 

  • Enhancement of sports and recreational spaces: Application of special concrete paint on the sports court, maintenance of metal structures, and construction of new bicycle parking areas. 

  • Creation of a playground: Design and installation of playground equipment with galvanized steel structures, including a triple-position swing set, a slide, and ladder-style bars. 

“This partnership represents much more than an investment in infrastructure, it is a commitment to the future of our children and a testament to the transformative power that emerges when the private sector joins forces for the common good,” said Miguel Bolinaga, President of AES Panama and its Foundation. “Each improvement has been designed to create a more dignified, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all students.” 

Corporate volunteering: the final touch with purpose 

The volunteer day held this Thursday marks the symbolic and emotional closing of the project, with employees from both organizations dedicating their time and energy to painting various areas of the school, bringing color and joy to the spaces where the dreams of hundreds of students are shaped every day. 

“We invited our teams to be part of this transformative experience. We are not just painting walls; we are leaving a mark of hope and demonstrating that when we work together, we can create meaningful change in our community,” Bolinaga added. 

Sustainable impact and long-term commitment 

This project is part of the sustainability strategies of both organizations, which have identified education as a fundamental pillar for community development. The improvements will directly benefit the entire student population of Ana Pérez de Isaza School, including students with special needs, teachers, and administrative staff, creating a more conducive environment for learning and holistic development.
