Arturo Gris

Chief Operating Officer

Arturo is the Chief Operating Officer for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean (MCAC). He has been leading the operation and maintenance of our generation plants, and the engineering and construction of new projects to fulfill the renewable and clean strategy to meet the needs of our clients.

Under Arturo's leadership in the region, AES achieved significant performance and process improvements in the operations of our generation plants through the implementation of asset management, digital systems, safety and environmental standards.

Arturo has led the engineering and construction of new projects based on new clean technologies that better met the needs of our clients in a global environment that changes quickly, such as solar, wind, hydro and liquified natural gas technologies.

Before being named Chief Operating Officer for MCAC in 2013, Arturo served as Vice President of Generation & Energy Management for AES Brasil, and Managing Director for Engineering and Construction for Latin America. Previously, Arturo served as Interim Country Manager for AES in Panama and held positions in financing and operations.

Arturo has an MBA from the University of Chicago, a Masters’ degree in Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Arturo now lives in Panama City with his wife and daughter, where he also enjoys the countryside and sports.
