In face of the public health crisis taking place in Panama and in the world, AES Panama launched a series of solidarity actions aimed at supporting local institutions in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the vulnerable communities impacted by virus.

A series of donations were made in the form of food, basic household items, medical equipment, personal protection equipment and other items. Some of the beneficiaries of these donations were: The Ministry of Security, The Firefighters Department, community associations, food banks, churches and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

One of the most important donations was a full coverage of the electric bill for a main hospital in Panama City, which was serving as a central location to care for COVID-19 patients. AES was able provided critical relief to the hospital by covering its electricity bill for two months, which totaled more than USD $530K. With this donation, the hospital was able to cover over costs they were incurring such as extra hours, personal protection equipment, hiring of more workers, among others.
